Believing the Unseen

All was unknown to us at one point in time. The exploration of unexplained began with a gut feeling. People took risks, followed their beliefs, and investigated the unseen. Before science proves an idea, it is just a theory, and in the olden days, any thing that wasn’t understood was a myth, witchcraft, or magic.

The spirit realm is still a mystery to many. People have investigated the paranormal, taken pictures of spirits, and performed EMF readings to prove ghosts exist.

So how much proof does one need to believe in the spirit realm or an alternate “invisible” reality?

As a medium, I sometimes do a service for the public called Platform. I connect with strangers and give them messages or readings from past loved ones. Once, my friend Michael, a complete sceptic, accompanied me. He watched me describe loved ones of strangers, their memories and experiences, and sadly some times, even their death.

That night my mentor, *Michelle, was also on Platform and described a 17-year-old young boy standing near my friend. *Michael, who is a teacher and does not have kids, dismissed the description. Michelle went on to describe the boy in detail. Michael declared that no student at his school had drowned, so she must be mistaken. Michelle then went on to say that this was in the past and it belonged to his childhood. She started describing the school uniform, and my friend’s face dropped.

He had worn the same uniform but did not remember a drowning. Michelle described the boy as a school captain and that she said she felt like she was swaying, so maybe alcohol was involved? Michael then appeared puzzled and spoke up slowly. In his junior year, a senior boy, captain, had gotten drunk and passed out on the street in a puddle and drowned. Could that be him? Michelle got the affirmation straight away and made the connection.

After the service, my friend was still in disbelief. Lucky guess, coincidence, he downplayed his experience.

For believers, no proof is necessary; for a sceptic, no amount of proof is ever enough.

Why is it so hard to believe?

To believe in the unknown is to trust something beyond yourself, and for some people, that is difficult. Letting go of your belief system to some universal law that is not written for people to follow is challenging for some people.

The door to infinite possibilities opens when you believe in the unknown. Some people feel satisfied and excited, but others are afraid of things beyond their control. Belief is a choice; how you see the world and your existence up to you. What exists in the unknown will be seen when you are ready to see it.

Until then, the unknown is waiting for you.
