It starts out secure and safe in its rightful home. Green and growing in this new world. A little leaf sits high on a branch and observes the world around it.

“This is the life” it says. It sit upon my branch and observe the busy world hustle bustle as time passes. Night and day. Sun and rain.

“I want to join the world” it says.

“Patience little leaf”, says mother tree. Your time to join the world will come.

The little leaf watches other leaves grow, change color and fly with the wind. “Oh how high they fly”, the leave exclaims. “Why can’t I fly now?”

“In time”, whispered mother tree. “You will fly and you will leave my protection. But stay with me for now and let’s enjoy each other’s company”.

But as the days passed the little leaf became impatient. The world was waiting! It wasn’t fair! When would it be his turn to fly with the wind?

So the little leaf wiggled and wiggled, rattled and twisted. Then in one gusty storm, a force took him away!

Up he soared! Up so high! He was turning and doing flips, the excitement was incredible! He never felt such joy, so much life! He met other kinds of leaves he had never seen before riding on the same wind. Bouncing around, playing, this was the life he was meant to live!

On and on the little leaf travelled far and wide with the wind. His adventures were amazing! He couldn’t wait to go back and tell mother tree all that he had seen and experienced.

But the little leaf was growing tired now. It noticed it was not as young and green as before. It missed the shelter and protection of mother tree, so it decided it was time to go home.

But where was home?

With every gust of wind, it searched for its mother and called her name. But the whispers of love were not heard.

The little leaf was tired now and it could not travel far with the wind.

“Just a little further…” it cried. “I just want to go home” it said and laid on the ground.

“I just want to… CRUNCH’ ‘SWEEP, SWEEP.

A man was heard saying, “Perfect. Let’s put this mulch by that new tree over there”.

Everything has a life. Everything has an experience. When you see an object, ask yourself where is this object in its life cycle? How am I a part of its story? How is it a part of mine?

We are all connected. We all are part of a living story. With every story there is a beginning and an end. There is no need to rush the story. The chapters will continue, the end will come, and in the end be happy with where you are in your story. Appreciate who comes in and out of it. There is a cycle to life and it ends only to begin again in someone else’s story.
